WWE Smackdown opens with Teddy Long in the ring talking about the controversy around the World Heavyweight Championship match at Capitol Punishment. Teddy Long calls out Christain who says he wants another shot at the title. Teddy Long makes a match between Kane and Christain to determine the New Number One Contender.
Sin Care defeats Ted DiBiase and Daniel Bryan defeats Cody Rhodes. Before the match begins, Daniel Bryan talks about how looks are not all. He says Dusty Rhodes was not good-looking (shows a photo to prove it!), but was charismatic.
Matt Striker interviews The Big Show. Mark Henry appears out of nowhere and attacks the Big Show. Help arrives to get Big Show back to his feet.
The new WWE Intercontinental Champion Ezekiel Jackson defeats his former friend and former Champion Wade Barrett in a title defense match.
Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel defeats the Usos.
The next match is Jinder Mahal Vs Yoshi Tatsu. Jinder Mahal, however, puts out Yoshi Tatsu even before the match starts. The match never happens. Jinder Mahal then spends some time showing how good he is with the miscrophone.
Finally, the main event. Christain Vs Kane. Mark Henry attacks Kane during the match. Randy Orton rushes out. Teddy Long makes it a tag-team match for the Number One Contender. The team of Christain and Mark Henry wins, Christain becomes the new Number One Contender and WWE Smackdown goes off the air.
