The Great White Sheamus won the Royal Rumble Match 2012. He did so by sending Chris Jericho out of the ring with a Brogue Kick. Earlier, there were reports that said that the WWE has decided to have Chris Jericho win the Royal Rumble. Before Chris Jericho made his return to the WWE, it was said that Randy Orton will win the Royal Rumble.
Nobody expected Sheamus to win the Royal Rumble match. Making Sheamus winner certainly isn't a popular decision. Randy Orton certainly is more popular than Sheamus. Chris Jericho winning the Royal Rumble match would have made things more interesting as the fans are yet to know if Chris Jericho is a heel or a face.
The WWE decided to go against making things interesting and predictable; they made it surprising. The decision to make Sheamus win the Royal Rumble was most probably a last-minute call.
