Only A Bad Ass Face Can Save WWE

WWE needs to be saved - from falling rates, from declining interests. There, of course, have been a lot of things going on in the WWE. Major superstars are returning, big decisions are being made. However, none of these are able to sustain audience interest.

I personally believe that the soap-opera approach the WWE recently adapted is what is affecting the WWE. It is imposible to design WWE storylines like in a soap opera. WWE (read pro wrestling) is unique. Imitating soap operas will only result in the show's decline.

The Rock returned, Mick Foley returned, Vince was fired, Triple H was made COO, Triple H was fired, Kevin Nash returned. None of these could generate the interest that existed when a less expensive storyline was created around the Nexus. It only goes on to show that it is not big names, but good storylines that matter. Get the Rock to wrestle for another 5 years; without good storylines the show will only fail. Big names matter only when they are part of good storylines.

Let's talk about the present scenario. The WWE is desperately searching for a way to boost its ratings and revive audience interest. How can it be achieved? The main event storylines in the WWE were only mere supporting storylines.

The introduction of a badass face character is what the WWE needs to be saved. John Cena is not badass, he is more like a solider. Randy Orton isn't either, Randy is twisteed. What we need is a superstar who makes decisions that the fans like and isn't scared of power, doesn't care about anything. There have been similar characters in the past - Stone Cold Steve Austin was the biggest.

Some current WWE Superstars like Triple H or The Big Show can play this character. Chris Jericho is returning soon, he would be a good fit too. CM Punk has a different style - one that screams revolution.
